Everyone knows Kansas City for incredible sports teams, extraordinary barbecue and a historic jazz scene, but another thing KC can boast about is its love for animals.

Scott Poore, KC Pet Project and Lucky the Pitbull – just to name a few – are Kansas City locals who have grown to reach a national audience about the importance of adoption and overall animal welfare.

Just 3 weeks ago, KC local ‘Lucky the Pitbull’ was featured on popular website The Dodo enjoying tacos for a Taco Tuesday celebration. The video has since reached almost 4 million views!

Although the cold weather has been a bummer for many of us in the Kansas City area, seeing uplifting videos like this make the freezing temps a little more bearable. Albus, a two year old pup, made it onto the “viral” section of MSN.com recently after building a snowman using only his paws!

Over the weekend, KC Pet Project hosted a huge adoption event called ‘Shed Some Shelter Pounds’.  “With the start of a new year, a lot of new pets have arrived at KC Pet Project which means we are FULL!” The event ended up finding homes for more than 150 animals!
