Here, our students aren't defined by what they can't do. They're discovering what they can do, building real-world skills, gaining confidence, and preparing for meaningful employment in our community.
For many of our students, PawsAbilities is an important first step toward employment.
Inside our Olathe facility and storefront, students learn through hands-on experience. They bake and package dog treats, decorate cookies, sew bandanas, prepare products for retail, fulfill orders, give tours, assist with pop-up shops, and learn what it means to be part of a team.
But the skills they're building go far beyond making pet products. They're learning how to follow directions, complete tasks, manage time, communicate with coworkers, serve customers, take responsibility, solve problems, and grow more independent. These are real job skills.
The ultimate goal isn't simply to teach a student how to package a bag of treats. It's to help them discover their strengths and use those strengths in meaningful employment.
As students build skills and confidence at PawsAbilities, our employment team helps connect them with businesses throughout the Olathe community where they can put those abilities to work.
